CTK Prayer

Christ the King Church is a Kingdom-focused church built on a foundation of prayer. We don't want to simply ask God for what wewant, but to pray to Him a perfect prayer—a prayer that is biblical, inspired by the Holy Spirit, & approached with the desire that HIS will be done.

Two conferences. One experience.

  • Christ the King Church is what many call a convergence church; joining the three great streams of Christianity together, (that being; Sacramental, Evangelical, and Pentecostal), forming a "River of Life", where Liturgy & the Sacraments, are empowered with Evangelical preaching, & Pentecostal giftings & power. • CTK is pastored by Bishop Ronald Estep & his wife, Pastor Lorraine Estep. It is under the leadership of these two pastors that CTK was founded and continues bless the local community and the world. To find out more about our pastors, click here.

λειτουργία

Notes On Liturgy
& explanations of its importance
[More]

Liturgy | A Bad Word.
Pentecostals & Evangelicals have for many years deliberately stayed away from this word, carefully calling the ceremonies of the church ordinances to avoid any connection to "old religious tradition." However, these ceremonies and "ordinances" are all liturgy no matter what mask we put on them, and can be instrumental in leading both new & seasoned believers alike, into the presence of God.

Liturgy | A Definition.
The word comes from the Classical Greek word λειτουργία (leitourgia) meaning "public work". The church use of the term comes from its frequent and historic use in the Greek text of the New Testament (eg Acts 13:2). It referred to a public and deliberate, well-defined ceremony. It is often translated as "minister" or "worship" in English language Bibles.

Creeds

Apostle's Creed

It is the most popular creed used in worship by Western Christians. Its central doctrines are those of the Trinity and God the Creator.

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand
of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come
to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church;
the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
AMEN.

Nicene Creed

The Nicene Creed is the most widely accepted and used brief statements of the Christianity. In liturgical churches, it's said every Sunday as part of the Liturgy.

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
AMEN.

Athanasian Creed

This creed defines the doctrines of the Trinity and the nature of Christ in concise language.
*catholic refers to the global church, not just Rome.

The Athanasian Creed

Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith. Which faith except everyone do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity, neither confounding the persons, nor dividing the substance. For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, and another of the Holy Spirit. But the godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, is all one, the glory equal, the majesty co-eternal.

Such as the Father is, such is the Son, and such is the Holy Spirit. The Father uncreated, the Son uncreated, and the Holy Spirit uncreated. The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the Holy Spirit incomprehensible. The Father eternal, the Son eternal, and the Holy Spirit eternal. And yet they are not three eternals, but one Eternal.

As also there are not three incomprehensibles, nor three uncreated, but one Uncreated, and one Incomprehensible. So likewise the Father is Almighty, the Son Almighty, and the Holy Spirit Almighty. And yet they are not three almighties, but one Almighty.

So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. And yet they are not three gods, but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son Lord, and the Holy Spirit Lord. And yet not three lords, but one Lord. For as we are compelled by the Christian verity to acknowledge each Person by Himself to be both God and Lord, so we are also forbidden by the catholic religion to say that there are three gods or three lords.

The Father is made of none, neither created, nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone, not made, nor created, but begotten. The Holy Spirit is of the Father, neither made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding.

So there is one Father, not three fathers; one Son, not three sons; one Holy Spirit, not three holy spirits. And in the Trinity none is before or after another; none is greater or less than another, but all three Persons are co-eternal together and co-equal. So that in all things, as is aforesaid, the Unity in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved is must think thus of the Trinity.

Furthermore, it is necessary to everlasting salvation that he also believe rightly the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right faith is, that we believe and confess, that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and man; God, of the substance of the Father, begotten before the worlds; and man of the substance of his mother, born in the world; perfect God and perfect man, of a rational soul and human flesh subsisting. Equal to the Father, as touching His godhead; and inferior to the Father, as touching His manhood; who, although He is God and man, yet he is not two, but one Christ; one, not by conversion of the godhead into flesh but by taking of the manhood into God; one altogether; not by confusion of substance, but by unity of person.

For as the rational soul and flesh is one man, so God and man is one Christ; who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead. He ascended into heaven, He sits at the right hand of the Father, God Almighty, from whence He will come to judge the quick and the dead. At His coming all men will rise again with their bodies and shall give account for their own works. And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting; and they that have done evil into everlasting fire.

This is the catholic faith, which except a man believe faithfully, he cannot be saved.

Holy Communion

Recognizing that it isn't merely a walk down memory-lane, we invite all baptized believers to celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion with us.

The Eucharist

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them to the Lord.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Celebrant:
It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. For our sins he was lifted high upon the cross, that he might draw the whole world to himself; and, by his suffering and death, he became the source of eternal salvation or all who put their trust in him.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and
with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:
Celebrant and People:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Celebrant
Holy and gracious Father:
In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.
On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said,
"Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me."‖
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said,
"Drink this, all of you:
This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me."‖
Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Celebrant and People:
Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
Celebrant
We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.
Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him. Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.
Celebrant
All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ. By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever.
AMEN.
Celebrant:
As our Savior Christ has taught us, we now pray,
People:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, & the glory,
forever & ever.
AMEN.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD

Celebrant: Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. People:Therefore let us keep the feast.
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion.

The Lord's Prayer [a,b]

It is overlooked a lot as the prayer memorized in Sunday School, but this biblical prayer should be the basis of every prayer, as it is how Jesus prayed.

The Lord's Prayer
from Matthew 6:9-13 | Luke 11:2-4

Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy Name
thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the Kingdom,
the Power, and the Glory
for ever and ever. AMEN.
